AM is the form of modulation in which information is impressed onto a carrier wave whose amplitude is caused to vary in accordance with the modulating signal. The types of AM are:

  • double sideband

  •
  • single sideband
  • upper sideband
  • lower sideband

  •
  • independent sideband.

  • Other topics in our resources on Communications Systems related to AM include:

  • Independent sideband (ISB)
  • Frequency modulation (FM)
  • Angle modulation
  • Spread spectrum
  • Demodulation
  • Phase modulation (PM)
  • Amplitude-shift keying (ASK)
  • Frequency-shift keying (FSK)
  • Quadrature AM (QAM)
