Information on Carrier-sense multiple access/collision avoidance
Carrier-sense multiple access/collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) is a refinement of
carrier-sense mulitple access (CSMA) in which a station uses a
collision avoidance (CA) technique to avoid collisions. Once a station
detects that the shared channel is free, it waits a
fixed time plus a random amount before transmitting. Used by
the AppleTalk protocol.
