Information on Source

The source is the originator of the information that is to be exchanged via the communication system. The source converts the original message information (in voice, text or image format) into an electrical signal. For voice, the source normally uses a microphone to convert the sound waves generated by the human speaker into electrical signals. Text is converted to electrical signals through a teletypewriter or computer; images are converted through a camera or video camera.
