Information on Discone Antenna

The discone antenna is a further development of the ground-plane antenna in which a circular disc is substituted for the monopole, so that the antenna has a broadband response. The disc and the cone of the discone antenna do not have to be of solid construction and may be constructed from separate wires to reduce weight and wind loading. The discone antenna has a low voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and the coaxial feeder usually has an impedance of about 50 Ohm.
