Information on Loop Antenna

A loop antenna consists of a loop of wire, with each end of the loop connected to one conductor of the antenna feeder.
     The most common application for a loop antenna is direction finding. The purpose of direction finding is to identify the direction from which radiation arrives at a receiver. Direction finding is an important part of aircraft and ship navigation systems and electronic warfare.
     A loop antenna is commly used as the antenna for an aircraft's automatic direction finder (ADF). In this application, the insensitivity to the elevation angle of the received radiation is of benefit.
