Information on Phased Array Antenna

A phased array antenna is an array antenna in which phases shifts can be applied to the signals received or transmitted from indivual elements in such a way that the antenna can be electrically steered. An important advantage of a phased array antenna over a mechanically rotated antenna is the lack of moving parts.
     One common application of a phased array antenna is as a radar antenna.
     A phased array antenna may be a flat panel antenna.
