Information on Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line Speed

A typical ADSL connection has a speed between 256 kbps and 2 Mbps on the downlink, providigng a speed of 64 kbps on the uplink. Much higher speeds may be available to customers located close to the telephone exchange.
Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line Speed is not the only limitation on the user's speed of access: internal congestion in the ISP's network or congestion in the ISP's external network interfaces can also degrade network speed.
