Information on High bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line
High bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line (High bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line Broadband) is a
DSL technology that provides a high rate, symmetric data communication
link over conventional twisted-pair copper cable. High bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line provides symmetric
upstream and downstream data rates of 1.5 Mbps using two
copper pairs and up to 2 Mbps using three copper
pairs. The maximum range of High bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line is 4.6 km,
which usually limits its availability.
Typical applications of High bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line include
feeder segments from local exchanges to remote nodes, cross-campus connections
and as alternatives to T1/E1 repeaters.
