Information on IEEE 802.3 Bridge

An IEEE 802.3 Bridge is a data-link layer (Layer 2) internetworking device that interconnects two Ethernet local area networks (LANs). An IEEE 802.3 Bridge operates at the data-link layer and therefore can only interconnect local area networks of the same type (i.e. Ethernet).
An IEEE 802.3 Bridge reads the destination and source addresses in the packets or frames and forwards them on to another Ethernet local area network segment depending on the address.
