Information on Very high rate Digital Subscriber Line Router
A Very high rate Digital Subscriber Line Router is used in VDSL broadband Internet
access to separate a customer's local network from the VDSL
network operator's network. In order to allow multiple network devices
on the internal network to share a single IP address
allocated by the VDSL ISP (Internet service provider), a VDSL
router normally includes a NAT router. A Very high rate Digital Subscriber Line Router may provide a number of ports for the local
network; one common configuration provides four 100baseT, 100 Mbps Ethernet
lines.
A Very high rate Digital Subscriber Line Router may be integrated with the VDSL
modem. In configurations where VDSL is used to deliver a
pay television service, the television set-top box may provide the
VDSL modem.
