An HDSL router is used in HDSL broadband Internet
access to separate a customer's local network from the HDSL
network operator's network. An HDSL router is usually integrated
with the HDSL modem.
In order to allow multiple network devices
on the internal network to share a single IP address
allocated by the HDSL ISP (Internet service provider), an HDSL
router normally includes a NAT router. An HDSL router may provide a number of ports for the local
network; one common configuration provides four 100baseT, 100 Mbps Ethernet
lines.
