When a CDMA mobile station is switched on, it looks
for available base stations. It chooses the most appropriate CDMA
base station (usually the one whose power level is highest),
and sends a message to this base station to affiliate
to the network. The CDMA base station passes this information
on to the mobile switching center, which keeps a database
of currently affiliated mobile stations.
