Frequency division duplex is a technique in which one frequency
band is used to transmit and another used to receive.
In other words, one block of the electromagnetic spectrum is
allocated for the uplink carrying data from mobile phones to
the base station, while a different block of spectrum is
allocated to the downlink carrying data from the base station
to the mobile phones.
CDMA mobile phones use frequency division duplex.
