Information on DTMF

Dual-tone multiple frequency is the touch-tone dialling system where a dual-tone signal is sent to indicate the desired number dialled from a fixed telephone. Dual tone multifrequency is also used for control purposes, such as an automatic bill-paying service, or remote control of appliances, such as a telephone answering machine.
     GSM does not use dual-tone multifrequency for network signalling, such as dialing a telephone number. GSM provides dual tone multiple frequency from the mobile phone during a call for control purposes..
