Information on Battery Type

The rechargeable internal battery in a GSM mobile phone is usually one of three types:

  • Nickel-cadmium
  • Nickel-metal hydride
  • Lithium

  •      Lithium batteries provide highest energy density of these types.
Nickel-cadmium batteries are subject to the memory effect, which means that they should always be fully discharged before charging, and then fully charged.
