Microcom Networking Protocols Class 6·is one of the error correction and
data compression protocols developed by the modem manufacturer Microcom.

6 provide: - ·Universal link negotiation: allows modems supporting a
variety of standards to interoperate at speeds from 50 to
19.2 kbps; eliminates incompatibilities between Bell standards and V series
standards·
- Statistical duplexing: also known as simulated full-duplex transmission; allows half-duplex
modems to support fast turnaround time based on which direction
has more data waiting to be transmitted
