Information on Asymmetric Modem

An asymmetric modem provides different data rates on the upstream and downstream links. Typically, an asymmetric modem provides a higher data rate on the downstream link. The V.90 and V.92 standards define asymmetric modems. ADSL modems are also asymmetric.
Modems that provide different the same data rate on the upstream and downstream links are known as symmetric.
