Information on Cable Modem
Broadband access via a cable modem is achieved by
transmitting data over an existing hybrid fibre/coaxial cable (HFC) network
installed for delivering cable television.
These HFC channels can operate at
27-56 Mbps downstream and up to 10 Mbps upstream.
However, this
bandwidth is usually shared between subscribers and typical data rates
from a cable modem range from 0.5-1.5 Mbps.
