Information on Fax Modem

A fax modem is used to convert the compressed image representating a page into a form suitable for passing over the telephone network. The most commonly used types of fax modems comply with the ITU Group 3 fax standards, and allow for transmission of data at rates up to 14.4 kbps.
     ITU standards for fax modems associated with Group 3 fax standards include:
