Information on MNP Class 4
MNP Class 4·is one of the error correction and
data compression protocols developed by the modem manufacturer Microcom.
MNP Class
4 ·implemented: - Adaptive size packet assembly: the size of
data packets is adjusted according to the quality of the
line to avoid errors and retransmissions
- Data phase packet format optimisation:
eliminates the portions of the overhead or framing bytes in
the data packets that do not change during data transfer.
Implementation
of MNP Class 4 protocols can increase transmission efficiency
by up to 20%.
