Information on Symmetric Modem

A symmetric modem provides the same data rate on the upstream and downstream links. The V.34, V.32ter, V.32bis, V.32 and V.22bis standards define symmetric modems.
     Modems that provide different data rates on the upstream and downstream links are known as asymmetric.
