Information on V.34 Modem

V.34 is an ITU standard for PSTN modems with a maximum bit rate of 28.8 kbps. V.34 has the following characteristics:

  • Maximum bit rate: 28.8 kbps
  • Baud rate:
    • Required: 3200, 3000, 2400,
    • Optional: 2743, 2800, 3429
  • Compression: V.42bis/MNP5
  • Error correction: V.42/MNP 4
  • Modulation: 9QAM and TCM
