A gatekeepers in an organisation is someone what directly controls
a situation. A gatekeeper often controls access to parts
of an organisation or people within it. Gatekeepers are found
in all functions and at all levels. Getting gatekeepers on
board is a principle, not a technique (Weisbord, 1987: 88-91).
Note that in the context of risk management and decision
making, gatekeeper is taken to mean more than Andersen
and Richardson (1997: 109) suggest. They use the term gatekeeper to describe a contact person within the target organisation.
In the context of risk management and decision making, a
gatekeeper can be the same contact person but can
be a person who overtly or covertly controls access to
information, to people or can influence acceptance of management intervention
processes.
