Information on Intermediate Circular Orbit (ICO)

The ICO system will have ten operational satellites and two in-orbit spares operating in medium-earth orbit at an altitude of 10,355 km. Calls from a mobile phone will be routed through one of the satellites to one of twelve ground stations, from where it will be routed through another satellite or through the public switched telephone network.
