Information on Cassegrain

A Cassegrain antenna has a parabolic reflector that focuses the incoming radiation in satellite communications onto a hyperbolic sub-reflector and thence into the waveguide. On the transmit path the opposite occurs. An advantage of the Cassegrain antenna is that it does not require the receiver electronics to be placed at the focus of the parabola. Cassegrain antennas are very common in satellite communications.
