The extremely-high-frequency (EHF) band is a radio-frequency (RF) frequency in
the band 3-30 GHz, commonly used in satellite communications. The
super-high frequency (SHF) and extremely-high-frequency bands are known as the
microwave bands and their wavelengths are short enough to be
propagated by highly directional antennas and waveguides. Propagation ranges are
limited to line-of-sight but long-distance communication can be achieved by
employing a series of radio relay stations. These portions of
the spectrum are used for television and high-speed data services
requiring large bandwidths. The super-high frequency (SHF) and extremely-high-frequency bands
are also used for satellite communications.
