Information on Multimedia Messaging Service

The GSM Multimedia Messaging Service allows users to send and receive messages containing multimedia content (including images, video, audio and text). Applications include personal messaging and delivery of paid content. The ability to deliver efficiently paid content is seen as an important step in allowing companies other than GSM network operators to make money out of the service.
     The Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC) is at the heart of the Multimedia Messaging Service , providing the switching and network storage required.
     The concept of the GSM Multimedia Messaging Service is an extension of the GSM SMS (short message service), which supports only text messaging.
