5.1 channel surround sound speakers allow reproduction of audio signals recorded in a 5.1 channel surround sound format. There are usually six speakers in a 5.1 channel surround sound speaker system: 5 main channels plus a low-frequency subwoofer channel. The five main channels are usually assigned to left, center and right front, and left and right rear.
