Human Factors. Human factors involve the study of human psychological, social, physical, and biological characteristics as they pertain to the incorporation of the human element into a system. Human-Machine Interface (HMI). The human-machine interface is an important focus for designers who have to understand the allocation of functions to the machine and to the human operator as well as be able to define the interface between the two sets of functions.
