Information on Deviation
Sometimes, for a number of reasons, it is not desirable
to modify the configuration item even though it does not
meet one or more requirements. In those cases a formal
written authorisation, called a deviation, is issued to
allow a configuration item to depart from approved configuration management
documentation. The difference between a deviation and an
engnieering change proposal is that the deviation does
not require amendment of the documentation associated with the configuration
item, whereas the engineering change proposal would.
