Information on Functional Baseline

The Functional Baseline is the product of Conceptual Design and represents a functional architecture of the system. That is, the functional architecture is a complete description of the functionality required by the system (normally grouped in functional groupings). The Functional Baseline is very important because it represents the end point of the transition from the users' world into the systems engineering world. The principal component of the Functional Baseline is the Functional Specification, which contains functional, performance and verification requirements as well as descriptions of interoperability requirements, interfaces, and design constraints for the system.
