Information on Subcontractor

The acquisition element of the customer organisation will invariably complete the Conceptual Design and outsource the remaining Acquisition Phase activities to a prime contractor through a contract. The contractor is therefore normally responsible for the Preliminary Design, Detailed Design and Development, Construction and/or Production activities finishing with acceptance by the acquirer at a Formal Qualification Review. In some cases, the contractor may not be able to perform all the work required within the contractor's organisation and they make engage subcontractors to assist in the completion of the task. Normally, the conditions of the prime contract flow down into the subcontract.
