Information on Utilisation Phase

The system lifecycle can be broken into two main phases of the systems engineering process: the Acquisition Phase and the Utilisation Phase. The Acquisition Phase ends with acceptance testing (Formal Qualification Review) after which the system is introduced into service and the Utilisation Phase begins. The Utilisation Phase is the responsibility of the customer organisation, and in particular, the responsibility of the user. The systems engineering activities associated with the Acquisition Phase are principally responsible for the acquisition of the systems and form the bulk of the systems engineering work associated with the system. While there is less systems engineering associated with the Utilisation Phase, the systems spends most of its time in this phase.
