Information on STS
STS are an approach to job design that
involves and integrates the technical systems (tools) and people systems
for optimum effectiveness; concerns for production / task and for
people and their welfare and development are balanced.
STS
are based on the concept that work could be more
fulfilling and productive if responsibility for complete pieces or processes
could be allocated to intact work groups.
STS represented
a reaction to and a breach with scientific management. The
STS movement synthesised the human (social) and technical
(tools) systems. In doing so, it put work back into
the hands of the worker.
