Information on The Paradox of Self Management

Becoming self-directed does not happen automatically; nor might it occur quickly and painlessly. The idea of leading or managing a Self-Directed Team seems counter-intuitive, and may pose dilemmas for members and leaders alike—"the paradox of self management". Continuing open dialogue on this theme may be needed. External coaching and facilitation may be helpful in "calling" and replacing counter-productive behaviours with more effective ones.
