Information on The Rugged Individualist

American and Australian cultures, in particular, have been significantly influenced by hardy individualism, breading the "rugged individualist". Our pioneering spirit and great diversity often run counter to teams. Teamwork requires pulling a group of diverse individuals together to work toward a common goal, often for extended periods. Most team members and leaders require training in group problem solving, decision making, and other collaborative and interaction skills. Moving to team objectives and performance measures increases the likelihood that team members will pull together, not apart. Individual coaching and team facilitation may be warranted.
