Information on Digital Television Set-Top Box (Digital TV STB)

A digital television set-top box (digital TV STB) is usually an integrated receiver decoder (IRD). The digital television set-top box (digital TV STB) therefore performs two functions: it acts as a receiver (demodulating the received signal) and a decoder (converting a compressed, digital bitstream into an analog signal that can be passed to an external monitor.)
