Information on Remote Procedure Call
Remote Procedure Call can be used to describe
any method that allows a user on one computer to
execute a program on another computer.
There are many security issues
associated with Remote Procedure Call. As a result, most forms of
Remote Procedure Call are blocked by firewalls. One exeception is SOAP
(Simple Object Access Protocol), which uses HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol)
to carry Remote Procedure Call requests and responses.
