Information on Simple Object Access Protocol
Simple Object Access Protocol is a transaction-oriented
protocol that allows applications to exchange data over the Internet.
Simple Object Access Protocol is one of several formats based on
XML.
Simple Object Access Protocol can also be seen as a form
of RPC (Remote Procedure Call).
Simple Object Access Protocol usually uses
the HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) to carry data. This means
that, unlike other types of RPC, it is able to
penetrate firewalls.
Simple Object Access Protocol provides three main functions: an envelope
that contains the XML message, a set of encoding rules
and a method for defining RPC and responses.
One important feature
of Simple Object Access Protocol is that it allows an arbitrary
data structured to be copied from one system to another.
