Information on Uniform Resource Locator
A Uniform Resource Locator specifies the physical location
of a resource in the Internet.
The Uniform Resource Locator specifies
the protocol to be used in accessing the resource, the
server from which the resource is obtained and the location
on the server at which the resource is to be
found. For many protocols, the Uniform Resource Locator specifies the location
of a file on the server that holds the resource.
The
Uniform Resource Locator is a sub-class of the more general URI
(Uniform Resource Identifier). The other sub-class of the URI is
the URN (Uniform Resource Name).
