Information on Uniform Resource Name
A Uniform Resource Name identifies an Internet resource in a way
other than specifying its physical location. One consequence is that
a resource that exists in multiple locations can be fetched
from the most convenient location. A resource specified by a
Uniform Resource Name should also be able to be found even
if its physical location changes.
The Uniform Resource Name is a sub-class
of the more general URI (Uniform Resource Identifier). The other
sub-class of the URI is the URL (Uniform Resource Locator).
The
Uniform Resource Name is much less commonly used to specify resources
than the URL.
