XML — Entity Reference

Information on Entity Reference

An entity reference supplements the default XML coding, and begins with the character '&'. When the XML document is parsed, the value of the entity reference is substituted. Predefined entity references include &, <, &gt, &quot. An entity reference may defined locally in an XML document, or separately in a DTD.
