Information on HTML (Hypertext Markup Language)
HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is a markup language commonly
used on the web.
An HTML document type consists
of text and tags. The tags control the displayed format
of the document, as well as specifying the URL for
hyperlinks and images.
Unlike XML, an HTML document does not
specify the type of data, only the format for its
display.
An HTML document is usually given the file extension
'.htm' or '.html'.
A typical HTML parser is much
more forgiving of HTML documents that are not well
formed than an XML parser.
