Information on XMI (XML Metadata Interchange)

XMI (XML Metadata Interchange) specifies means for describing objects in XML, including:

  • use of XML elements and XML attributes to represent objects
  • linking of objects within documents or between documents
  • object versioning
  • production of validation rules using XML DTD or XML schemas
  • XML document production
  • XML schema production
  • Derivation of an object model by reverse engineering of XML

  •      XMI, along with Meta-Object Facility (MOF), and Unified Modeling Language (UML), is a product of the OMG.
